LESSON OVERVIEW

On Day 9, students compare scientific explanations and creation narratives without ranking cultures or treating all sources as useful for the same purpose. The central thinking question is: Useful for what question? Students compare a Big Bang source, a geologic time source, and a creation narrative by purpose, evidence, and meaning. Scientific sources help answer questions about physical evidence, natural processes, sequence, and change. Creation narratives help answer questions about cultural meaning, values, worldview, and identity.
