LESSON OVERVIEW

On Day 8, students shift from scientific explanations to creation narratives as cultural sources. Students are explicitly taught that creation stories are studied respectfully as sources of cultural meaning, not tested as scientific data. They read one creation narrative individually or in groups and complete a source card identifying creator/tradition, purpose, view of nature, view of humans, and values. The lesson protects student privacy by allowing students to describe beginning stories generally without sharing personal beliefs.
